The James Figg is a proper pub, offering well-kept beer, honest pub food and a warm welcome.
Behind the bar you will find the manager, Kenny Davison, ever ready to pull you a decent pint or pour you a glass of good wine. The James Figg is a free house serving the best of British ales, such as Charles Wells’ Bombardier, UBU from Stratford-on-Avon’s award-winning Purity Brewery and Vale from just down the road in Brill. We also have regular guest ales. Our current lagers are Cotswold, Kirin Ichiban and Beck’s Vier. Our cider is Addlestone’s.
Ale idol - every month you have the chance to vote for our guest ale. So come in and have your say!
Our wine list contains some really convivial drinking, all available by the glass or “pinta”, a 500ml measure served in an old-fashioned milk bottle.
The menu is simple and traditional, the sort of pub food you fancy after a hard morning’s work, or shopping. The food is straight forward, but the quality is right. All our chicken and eggs are free-range. Our ham comes from outdoor-reared pigs and we roast it ourselves. We work together with our Thame neighbours, Newitt’s Butchers, by serving their pies and sausage rolls. Food is served between noon and 2.30pm and 6.00 and 9.30pm. We also serve coffee and breakfast in the mornings.
We are holding regular quiz nights and other local events at the pub. Please check News & Events for details. We can also put on dinners, parties or “do”s in The Stables, just behind the pub. Please check The Stables page for details.
Thame is a lovely English market town and The James Figg is at the heart of it. The English pub, with its tradition of drink and chat and simple, satisfying food, is a great institution, often under threat. Help to keep it alive by coming to see us soon.
We have Thame’s greenest beer garden, set behind The Stables we have an idyllic space perfect for lazing away sunny afternoons with a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc and a bite to eat.
We are holding BBQ’s every Sunday as long as the weather is on our side!
